This layout is built to HO scale (3.5mm to the foot) and represents a fictitious Canadian diesel locomotive facility located in the Rocky Mountains of British Columbia, Canada. Whilst primarily intended for use as a Canadian Pacific facility it can also be utilised as a Canadian National locomotive shop and can cover any time period from the 1950s to the present day.
The baseboards are constructed from 2″x1″ timber framing, with a chipboard top and MDF back and side boards. Track is PECO code 83 streamline with electrofrog points and Peco point motors. Back scenes are from id Backscenes, structures from the Walters Cornerstone range and ground cover from Woodland Scenics. Lighting is a mixture of Brawa and scratchbuilt. Figures are from the Preiser range and vehicles from Athearn and Woodland Scenics ranges.
The layout is operated by DCC (Digital Command Control) using either the Gaugemaster Prodigy DCC or the NCE Power Cab DCC Systems when used as a stand alone layout. When connected to the Calder Northern Group, North Western Mills layout it uses the NCE Procab System from the main layout. Locomotives are a mixture of Athearn Genesis/Ready to Roll, Atlas, Bowser, Broadway, Intermountain, Kato, Rapido Trains and Walters (Life Like) Proto 1000 and 2000 models. All are DCC equipped, the majority being sound fitted examples.
The layout has an accompanying fiddle yard with a traverser and storage capacity for up to a dozen locomotives depending on size.
